Pratham is a non governmental organization working to provide quality education and skilling to the children and youth of India.
In a country with 28 states, over 600 districts, and more than 350 million children, it is a monumental task to ensure that every child is literate – a task that the government cannot accomplish alone.
This thought gave birth to Pratham Education Foundation in 1995 with the aim of providing pre-school education to children in the slums of Mumbai city.
Since then, the organization has grown to become one of India’s largest non-governmental organization working to provide education to the underprivileged children of India.
Today, it is reaching out to millions of children annually in rural and urban areas across the country.
To make its programmes sustainable and self-propelled in the long run, Pratham works closely with the school systems and the communities involved.
